What Old USA collects when you visit — which, for now, is very little.

This policy explains what information Old USA ("we") collects when you use oldusa.com, and what we do with it. It describes the site as it works today. We will update it before we introduce anything that changes what we collect.
What we collect
No accounts and no forms. You can't create an account on Old USA, and the site has no newsletter sign-up or contact forms. We don't ask you for personal information.
Your saved records stay on your device. When you use Save to Records, the list of landmarks you save is kept in your own browser's local storage. It is never sent to us, and we can't see it. Clearing your browser's data for this site deletes it.
Server logs. Like any website, oldusa.com is delivered by a hosting provider whose servers record basic technical information about each request — such as your IP address, browser type and the page requested — in order to deliver the site, keep it secure and diagnose problems. We don't use this information to identify you.
Images. Photographs and other images are delivered by the image service of Sanity, the platform that stores our content. Your browser's requests for images reach Sanity's servers, which receive the same kind of technical information.
Cookies, analytics and advertising
Old USA does not currently use cookies, analytics or advertising trackers. We plan to add analytics, to understand which pages people find useful, and later advertising and affiliate links. Before we do, we will update this policy to explain what those services collect and how to opt out, and we will ask for your consent where the law requires it.
Links to other sites
Landmark pages link to official websites, map directions and other external sites. Their privacy practices are their own; this policy covers only oldusa.com.
If you email us
If you write to us, we use your email address and message only to reply and to act on what you've asked. We won't add you to a mailing list.
Children
Old USA is a general-audience site. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children.
Changes to this policy
When this policy changes, we will update it here and change the date shown at the top of the page.
